I’ve been wanting to write this blog for a very long time. At least 7 years… in part, probably more. It’s an interesting thing pioneering – not only do we get to make up the rules as we go, we get to break them and remake them whenever we want, apparently.
I started hooping about 16 years ago, at least that’s my story.
I needed Planned Parenthood in 1999 when I decided to take a year off school to work and live in Chapel Hill. I was no longer covered by the university’s health care or my parents’. When I needed my yearly exam and birth control, I went to Planned Parenthood.
The practitioners were friendly and helpful. I left with my questions answered and a supply of birth control pills for $10 a month. It was very affordable.
12 years later I’m married with a 4-year-old child. I am very grateful to have had sex education and access to affordable birth control. I never faced an unwanted pregnancy.
